Today we started the project and we right away decided that we wanted to have an elevated hook that would lift up the masses and place them in the box. We started building what we thought the robot would look like and it seemed to be working. So far so good.

Dan wasnt here today and I realized that I needed to rebuild my robot because the idea we had in the beginning wasnt working out for us so I decided to just build a base and then place the battery on top to be able to create a hook. Its really becoming hard to build a wheel in the back so the robot can turn. Here is a picture of where I am currently:

We redid our whole design today as well because we wanted to have a more a stable structure to lift up the weight. We also needed to create something that would hold up the wheel in the back. It seems to be going good now so hopefully tomorrow we will work on the back wheel as well as the pulley and gear system. We have the base down and the wheels are on the side.

Today was a huge success for our group. We worked on it during lunch and were able to create more bindings and build a robot that was stable. We had the base built and then built the wheel. Dan built the system in the back to hold the wheel up. I came in to buiild the high rise and then pulley system to be able to carry the weight. Through some hard work and though, I was able to make the robot hold the weight up without falling forward because that was our original problem.
Here is where we stand at the moment:

Today we managed to work out our programming and our robot is able to follow a line. We have to work on the double black stop because whenever it hits double black, it turns and we need it to completely stop. We added on the lights and everything seems to be going great. We need to start working on the robot advancing towards the weights.
Here is another picture of where we are:

We haven't written in our blog for a while so now we have advanced a lot. We had problems in the beginning but now we have a myblock for the line following and made a myblock for each route that we have so far. We are aiming to just finish 3 routes sinced the challenge has changed so much. Hopefully everything works out for us.

Today was a good day and we are advancing pretty fast. The first trial has already passed and we didnt get a chance to do our trial and neither did more than half the class. We finished the 2 routes but there are so many factors that affect the process. The tape can get caught and some other things as well. We are aiming to use the counterweight ebcause we have programmed our robot with the counter weight so we plan to continue to use it. We have to finish the last route and then we are done with the challenge. We also figured out that we cant use the hanging mass and had to tie down a mass to the back to get a counter balance.

We were able to complete the course with a couple of complications but for the most part, everything seemed to work out fine. We had it complete the course without any bumps for 2 tries and then once we did the trial, we had to bump it 5 times. It all depended on where we started the robot. Then we did the additional trial for a 10% deduction and we finished with only 2 bumps so that worked out alright for us.
